Dan Gilgoff’s recent U.S.News & World Report article on Dobson’s comments about Gingrich and former Sen. Fred Thompson has gotten lots of attention, so much so that Focus on the Family has issued a clarifying statement.
They must really be feeling some heat, the statement goes pretty deep.

If someone wants to spend $27 million on a building centered around the notion that at one point in history children played amid dinosaurs, they are free to do that.
What they should not do is attempt to convince people that this somehow has anything to do with the reality science provides us. Unfortunately that […]

Check out the cover of this week’s Time Magazine. Is this an editorial? An op-ed? Strange decision for the magazine to make (maybe they wanted some attention?) Either way, such a statement on the cover needs to be placed in some sort of context.
Since when did Time Magazine become an advocate for any cause? Let […]

In the wake of NIH director Dr. Elias A. Zerhouni’s testimony on Monday, the Washington Post has published an editorial today echoing his call for a repeal of President Bush’s current policy banning expanded research on embryonic stem cells with federal dollars.
The Post cuts right to the chase, highlighting Bush’s ever shrinking pool of […]

Last night Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy delivered the keynote address to an event hosted by the Indiana Family Institute, the Indiana affiliate of Focus on the Family.
Despite the claim of many that the appearance wasn’t an inherit endorsement of IFI’s policies, Dungy told the crowd the he supported the group’s opposition to […]

Thanks Tony!
Yesterday, in testimony delivered before the Senate, the Director of the National Institutes of Health — Dr. Elias Zerhouni — spoke out against President Bush’s war on embryonic stem cell research:
“From my standpoint, it is clear today that American science will be better-served, and the nation will be better-served, if we let our scientists […]

Hat tip to moiv and our friends at Talk2Action.org for catching this one.
Florida’s Palm Beach Post published an editorial Sunday attacking “Crisis Pregnancy Centers” for the fear mongering and misrepresentation of data they exploit in hopes of furthering their agenda, something we’ve focused on a great deal here as well.
From the Post:
Public money should […]

In the last few months word of a lawsuit filed against Pat Robertson and his Christian Broadcasting Network has garnered some attention. That attention increased dramatically when, according to the plaintiff, a bodybuilder named Philip Busch, Robertson threatened the life of him and his family.
According to Robertson, no threat was made, the Reverend merely called […]

There is some more attention being generated toward the Dobson-Gingrich interview last week.
Including this letter to the editor in Ohio. Look familiar?
On March 9, Dobson provided a platform on his radio show for Gingrich to admit to his own extramarital affair at precisely the time he was leading the call for the impeachment of President […]

That’s right, the former Ohio Secretary of State and 2006 gubernatorial candidate will soon be employed by the Family Research Council as a “senior fellow for family empowerment.”
From the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Blackwell, a Cincinnati Republican who was Ohio secretary of state, will lead FRC’s efforts in addressing family economics.
“Over the years, we have known and worked […]

Dobson has seriously backed himself into a corner with his note to the National Association of Evangelicals re: Richard Cizik. In today’s New York Times Laurie Goodstein added another story to the growing pile covering the rift.
In the story Goodstein quotes the same board member that Focus on the Family paraded around in their email […]

For those who haven’t seen this yet. From the AP:
The American Humanist Association applauded Rep. Pete Stark for publicly acknowledging he does not believe in a supreme being. The declaration, it said, makes him the highest-ranking elected official — and first congressman — to proclaim to be an atheist.
The most important aspect of this revelation […]

As mentioned before, next week Indianapolis Colt’s head coach Tony Dungy will deliver a keynote address for the Indiana Family Institute. Yesterday’s CitizenLink email from Focus on the Family highlighted the event, attacking those who have highlighted Dungy’s affiliation with the group.
Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family Action, said gay groups would like […]

The story of the National Association of Evangelicals and their hopes of fighting climate change is a long and complicated one. For years Richard Cizik — the Vice President for Governmental Affairs at NAE, and probably the most high profile evangelical activist on the issue — has attempted to make climate change part of the […]
