DefCon: Campaign to Defend The Constitution. Because The Religious Right Is Wrong
During our stem cell campaign, DefCon America ran two full page ads in the New York Times in May and June. Click here to see the ad from May. Click here to see the ad from June.

We also released our first video on YouTube featuring DefCon advisory board member and former NARAL head Kate Michelman's incredible story and by doing all we could to empower the millions of Americans for whom we are fighting. Click here to view the video.

To be sure, the fight for health and hope is not over. In the coming months, this fight will move to the states, where citizens are tired of waiting for a misguided President to do the right thing and have taken the issue into their own hands. Stay tuned to the DefCon Blog for updates.

Just in time for this weekend’s Super Bowl pitting the Indianapolis Colts against the Chicago Bears, the Indiana Family Institute, an anti-gay organization openly connected to Focus on the Family, has announced a fundraising dinner in March featuring and honoring Indianapolis Colt’s coach Tony Dungy.
As with similar groups in states across the country, […]

“God said it. I believe it. That settles it!”

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Crooks and Liars has a posted a terrifying six minute clip from Alexandra Pelosi’s new documentary, Friends of God. The clip focuses on the creation movement and highlights yet again the aggressive tactics creationists employ when it comes to “teaching” (a.k.a. indoctrinating) children.
It’s pretty disgusting.
Among the featured speakers in the clip is Ken Ham. Ham […]

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Looks like our public awareness campaign to expose the religious right’s recently released video game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, was a success.
You’ll remember that our efforts garnered a great deal of national media attention:

Front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle;
Stories on CNN’s American Morning, ABC World News, and Canadian TV;
A live debate with religious […]

Tony Perkins SOTU Response on YouTube

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Tony Perkins has posted a response to last night’s State of the Union address on YouTube. Judging by the 177 low number of views, his message is clearly resonating with the American people. He’s pretty upset. Must be the fact that the President didn’t directly refer to gay Americans as immoral sinners, or it could […]

Much has been made of America’s so-called religious divide, but few of the discussions and debates resemble Alexandra Pelosi’s new film, “Friends of God.”

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

From today’s Washington Post:
In prepared Senate testimony, Story Landis, director of the NIH’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and interim chair of the agency’s stem cell task force, closely mirrored previous testimony from other NIH officials, who have for years been careful not to criticize the Bush policy directly, even though that policy […]

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

It’s official, the long awaited Creation Museum will open its doors this coming Memorial Day weekend.
For those who are unaware, the Creation Museum is the religious right’s most recent attempt to display their distaste for the field of science. According to Reuters:
The $27 million project, which also includes a planetarium, a special-effects theater, nature […]

Dobson SLAMS McCain

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

The McCain camp must be in a tizzy. All that hard work to win the favor of the religious right, only to have the Godfather of the movement state that he “would not vote for McCain under any circumstances.”
Watch CNN’s piece on the issue here.

Friends in High Places

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

James Dobson has the ear of someone in the upper ranks of the Fox News Network. We saw this last March, when, within hours of the launch of DefCon’s campaign exposing the hypocritical ties between religious right leaders and lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Dobson had a featured segment on the O’Reilly Factor.
This past Friday, on […]

The Campaign to Defend the Constitution combats the growing influence of the religious right over American democracy, education, and scientific progress and leadership.
